What is latinx?

Latinx is a term that stands for inclusion in the very gender centered Spanish language and is a non-binary substitute for Latino/Latina. Not only is it used to describe a person from Latin American origin, it can be seen as a cultural value. The term has become relevant again because of millennials on social media hoping to include all genders under this term.
Our goal of the project...
Our goal of this project is to examine and understand the barriers Hispanic students face as they seek admission in universities or as they strive for a degree. We are also incorporating Latinx into our project, our hope is to tie together Latinx and the struggles students face in higher education. Our university of focus is Miami University and how the college tends to the cultural needs of students from Hispanic descent.
We are focusing on university events that promote inclusion and diversity, interviewing Spanish professors to gain an outside perspective from a professor's point of view, and using sources, primary and secondary, to gain background insight on barriers Hispanic students face in higher education.
